TAYLOR PARKER
architectural designer | stargazer | trailblazer
I don’t think many of us are simply born architects. I think that, over time, we become architects. We form like the elements of the Earth— sometimes subtly and sometimes violently— over what often feels like eons. Sometimes we fail a million times before we succeed. I know I have. There will always be lessons to learn and room to evolve. We operate from a sense of place. Being raw and unrefined in our youth, with lofty goals of becoming mountains from valleys and reaching the stars, not fully understanding yet what architecture truly is. Over many years we start to see what architecture is. At the end of the day, the purest form of Architecture is its humanity. If we remove the human element from design, it is simply an empty spaces. Albeit likely a beautiful space, it lacks a soul and the warmth of civilization.
When we add the human experience to this alchemy, a wonderful thing happens. Much like the architect, the building also becomes. It becomes a living, breathing element where hope resides. The most beautiful gift we can give to our fellow creatures is the ability to inhabit a space where they feel safe and inspired. At the end of the day, that is the greatest impact we can make as designers. I became an architect because I wanted to create beauty in the world and provide meaningful impact for others. I could think of no better way to be of service to others than to use my skills to bring their visions and dreams to reality.
